the demolition project
participatory installation
The Demolition Project (Alisa Oleva + Debbie Kent)
London, Moscow, Manchester, Leicester, Leeds, Krasnodar
2014-present
It is a participatory installation that involves a giant map of the city and an invitation to the audience to demolish whatever they want – to cut out buildings, streets or entire areas. In return they must supply their reasons for the destruction, whether these are ideological, aesthetic or autobiographical. The result is a map full of holes and a word-map of memories, emotions and thoughts about the buildings that we live in and with.
